Havana, Apr 30 (ACN) The National Tax Administration Office (ONAT) and the Comptroller General's Office of the Republic of Cuba (CGRC) signed an agreement today in the capital for access to and use of computer systems and data of mutual interest.
Mary Blanca Ortega Barredo, head of ONAT, and Mirian Marbán González, Comptroller General, signed the document, which states that through the INFOGESTI computer system and the cross-referencing of financial information, the identification of possible tax fraud or evasion will be facilitated.
It will also enable more effective audits and focus efforts on higher-risk areas, promote transparency in the management of public resources, improve accountability to citizens, avoid duplication of efforts, and work in a more coordinated manner, respectively.
Access to necessary data will be facilitated for the Comptroller General's Office, the provincial comptroller's offices, and the special municipality of the Isle of Youth.
The signed agreement will also allow consultations on information of tax significance, favoring the preparation, planning, and execution of the audits carried out each year on ONAT, as well as occasional inquiries on taxpayers of interest as part of ongoing control actions.
Likewise, data and information obtained as a result of the implementation of artificial intelligence tools and other data analysis algorithms that contribute to the detection of irregularities of interest to the work will be valuable.
At all times, the principle of confidentiality will be observed, as well as compliance with legislation on the protection of personal data, regarding data quality, limitation of use, and information transparency.
The agreement between ONAT and the Comptroller's Office may be modified by mutual consent of both parties, or for any other reason recognized under current legislation, and entered into force upon being signed by their respective heads.
